VERSE: “Then Isaac sowed in that

III. LESSON
INTRODUCTION: ‘Kingdomnomics’ is a contraction for “Kingdom Economics”. Simply
put, economics is the study of the use of scarce resources to satisfy unlimited
human wants. The term kingdom, in this context, refers to the realm in which
God’s will is fulfilled. It is the domain of God’s operations over His people
(those who are born again). While there are basic economic principles in the
world system, people of God are expected to also understand and live by the
economic principles of the kingdom which will not only make them profitable in
this world but also lay imperishable treasures for them in Heaven.

LESSON OUTLINES
LESSON OUTLINE 1: ENTITIES IN KINGDOM ECONOMICS
Teacher should list
and explain the three key entities in kingdom economics, their relationship in
the light of Jesus’ injunction in Matthew 6:24.
i. There
are three key entities in kingdom economics:
ii. God (the
creator).
iii. Man.
iv. Resources
(everything man can use or interact with in this world, including time, talent,
and treasure).
B. We can
think about each of these entities as being a circle.
C. THE
RELATIONSHIP: You relate to God and to your Resources, and these circles
must relate to each other. For instance:
i. Some
approach their resources based on their beliefs about God.
ii. Others
approach God based on their resource needs.
iii. For
some, these two circles never even intersect, having nothing to do with each
other.
D. JESUS INJUCTION: Jesus
said that one of these “circles” will actually become the master of the other-you
will serve God or money (Matt.6:24). How you relate to these two circles
will make a far-reaching statement about who you are, how you live, and who you
are becoming.
CLASS ACTIVITY 1: Class
should discuss how believers should relate with God and their resources.
LESSON OUTLINE 2: BIBLICAL ECONOMIC PRINCIPLES
The following are
some of the biblical economic principles that believers are expected to live
by:
i. Principle No.1: Godliness-The
foundation of success in any economic endeavour is godliness (Ex.23:8; Deut.16:19;
Ps.37:25; Matt.6:33; 1Tim.6:6-11).
ii. Principle No.2: Obedience-Do
whatever God lays on your heart to do in line with the word of God (Gen.12:1-4;
Deut. 28:1; Isa.1:19; Isa.30:21; Jn.2:5; Heb.3:15).
iii. Principle No.3: Creativity-God has
given unto everyone gifts/talents, creative abilities and grace to acquire
skills (Ex.31:3,6; Ex.35:30-35; Matt.25:14-15; Lk.19:12-13).
iv. Principle No.4: Giving and Generosity-The more
you give the more you get – (Ps.112:9; Prov.11:24; 19:17; Lk.3:11; Lk.6:38;
2Cor.9:7).
v. Principle No.5: Sowing and Reaping-Seed time and
harvest time shall not cease (Gen.8:22; Eccl.3:2b); the quality and
quantity of what you sow, determines what you reap (Gal.6:7; 2Cor.9:6).
vi. Principle No.6: Risk and Faith-Those
that are afraid of taking risk will not attempt new things (Prov. 22:13;
26:13; Eccl.11:4-6).
vii. Principle No.7: Investments-Believers
should tap into the various investment opportunities around them (Eccl.
11:1-6; Isa.32:20).
viii. Principle No.8: Labour/Diligence-There is
dignity in labour (Prov.6:6, 10-11; Prov.10:4; Prov.12:24,27; Prov.13:4; Prov.14:23;
Prov.18:9; Prov.21:5; Prov.22:29; 2Thess.3:10).
ix. Principle No.9: Effective time
management-Time is irredeemable resource given to man (Eccl.3:1;
Eph.5:16).
x. Principle No.10: Favour and Relationships-Favour
flavours labour and birds of the same feather flock together (Ps.102:13;
Prov.13:20; Eccl. 9:11; Rom.9:16).
CLASS ACTIVITY 2: Students
should share their experience of living on some of the economic principles of
the kingdom.
3. SUMMARY: To
achieve the right relationship with the other entities, a believer must live by
the economic principles of the kingdom.
4. CONCLUSION: Use your time, talent, and treasure for God’s kingdom.
You will not only experience a life of opportunity, impact, and legacy here on
earth but you will also be laying up for yourself treasures in the kingdom of
Heaven.
5. EVALUATION: What are
the economic principles of the kingdom?
6. CLOSING PRAYER: Father,
please help me to use my time, talent and treasure for Your kingdom.
7. ASSIGNMENT: State
five (5) kingdom economic principles and their corresponding results (2x5=10
Marks).
